Due to the Nor'easter storm in the area, the concert at the Jamesport Meeting House has been rescheduld to Saturday, October 3, 2026. In her solo recital "Chopin’s Musical Prism," Magdalena Baczewska will present Fryderyk Chopin’s Préludes, Op. 28 not as a continuous cycle, but as a musical landscape interrupted and illuminated by works from other musical and aesthetic landscapes. Between groups of Chopin’s beloved miniatures, interspersed works by Claude Debussy, Henry Cowell, Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, and Philip Glass offer unexpected reflections and different approaches to color, resonance, gesture, rhythm, and silence. The program becomes a kind of musical prism: Chopin remains at its center, while each neighboring work refracts his language in a different light. The listener is invited to return to Chopin’s Préludes with ever-renewing perspectives.
